Cube Housing Association to deliver Milton infill housing
May 1 2015
Cube Housing Association has submitted plans to build 70 homes on vacant ground at Liddesdale Road, Milton, delivering a mix of two and three bedroom houses, retirement flats and cottage flats on two cleared sites.Adopting pitched gables and vertical window openings these properties have been designed to reference the suburban context and facing onto a shared green amenity space.
In their design statement Cooper Cromar wrote: “We propose to adopt a simple palette of materials, predominantly high quality brickwork with dark zinc features and pitched dark grey tiled roofs, to create a strong contemporary aesthetic with a nod to the adjacent Elder & Cannon scheme.
“Modelling of the facades is dealt with by recessing feature areas of glazing deeply into this plane of brickwork where suitable to create a visual depth to the facade and we have adopted a contrasting brick to the boundary wall and plinth elements.”
