ARPL submit plans for new village housing
The Ayrshire village of Dailly is to receive four new homes after Ayrshire Housing submitted plans to build a modest residential scheme on the site of the former King’s Arms Hotel.

Demolished three years ago it has left a prominent gap site in the village centre, overlooking a bridge over the Water of Girvan.

ARPL have been brought on board to design sympathetic infill for the location in the form of two blocks, each with two, two bedroom flats for rent.

Designed with high levels of insulation to minimise heating requirements the properties have been designed to be economical to run in an area lacking mains gas.

Looks promising - a nice and refreshingly urban solution maintaining the street edge and reinforcing the corner. Stylistically it's a bit like a Richard Murphy scheme but shorn of his superfluous sub-Scarpa sliding metalwork and ubiquitous stepped screen walls. A good thing.

A good, modest, well designed scheme. Well done ARPL!

agreed as #1&2 above, :-) especially like the lack of clutter and restrained palette.

But unconvinced by just rotating type 90deg on corner, also surely level access could be achieved. Would be good to see the type tweaked to take account of corner condition. privacy issue between bedroom and living? that sorta thang. mere details...sorry for sounding all tuttory.

Nice bases , the roofs look a little wierd, a bit like they re from a different project. Especially the hang

I also concur with the positive comments above. However seriously doubt if the vehicle shown on 3D image will fit in this location. Stairway surely is 1.2m max wide on plan and cut back inadequate. OOPS!!

Soooo much white. I wonder how long before it is either vandalised, or in need of a repaint....?
