RIAS/RIBA reveal Scottish awards shortlist
The Royal Incorporation of Architects has named a 24-strong shortlist for this year’s awards calendar after receiving 65 submissions of work from around the country.

Iain Connelly, president of the RIAS, commented: “The judges will visit all 24 shortlisted schemes to determine which are worthy of an award. The judges are considering a plethora of projects of different scale and type, but they will only be rewarding those projects which they feel best address the key role of architecture: to improve the quality of people’s lives. Looking at this brilliant list, they’ve got a tough job ahead.”

This year’s judging panel included Julia Barfield, Marks Barfield; Karen Cunningham, Director: Festival of Architecture 2016; Hugh Dutton Hon FRIAS, Hugh Dutton Associés and Stuart Goodall, Director of Wood for Good.

Winners will be announced at the RIAS Awards Dinner on 17 June at the Balmoral Hotel, Edinburgh.

Great shortlist, quite a few interesting projects and a good variety of scale, use and design approach

Agree with Dom. Great to see not only the quality, but the diverse range and scale of projects, right down to the ubiquitous dormer window.
