St Andrews business incubator to move on-site
March 26 2015
Robertson Construction is to press ahead next month with plans to convert former student residences within the St Leonards area of St Andrews to form a new business centre. The St Andrews Business Centre will offer modern office accommodation in a two-storey pavilion within the grounds of the existing lodge, which will itself be converted into additional office accommodation.
Intended as an incubator for start-up businesses from the towns university the space is expected to welcome its first tenants in October.
John Murphy, managing director at Robertson Homes, said: “We have worked closely with a variety of departments within Fife Council to ensure this quality development reflects its Conservation Area location. In addition we have had to be mindful of the likely business requirements in designing flexible spaces that can be purpose-fitted to meet the potential variety of occupiers’ needs.”
Robertson is delivering a wider masterplan for the area; including specialised housing for older people and a number of Georgian-style townhouses.

"Georgian-style townhouses"??!! Do they not have any ideas of their own, that they have to mercilessly (and no doubt badly) ape a historical style?? Silly me, it's Robertson's - take one look at the image above and be filled with hope!

There is no such thing as an original idea.

"Georgian-style townhouses" have already been built. They do fit in with Abbey Park House and other parts of St.Andrews.

All of the parties involved on this development ( architects, planners, contractors ) should really question why they are still pumping out such miserable, unimaginative, solutions. Change profession now as your credibility is at the bottom, clearly that is where you strive to be.
