March 6 2015
Reiach & Hall have been selected to design a new community hall at Grandhome, a satellite town on the north western outskirts of Aberdeen which recently won planning in principle.Davidston Hall will sit at the heart of a community of up to 7,000 homes in the first phase of development known as Laverock Braes, a 600 home development to be delivered by Bancon Homes, Cala Homes and Dandara.
The multi-purpose public space will incorporate a small café and shop on Davidston Square.
A Reiach & Hall spokesperson said: “We are encouraged by The Grandhome Trust’s involvement as a forward thinking client and we appreciate their support and aspirations for the building. We look forward to seeing the design develop in the coming months.”
Bruce Smith, a trustee of The Grandhome Trust, added: “Grandhome combines the best in modern planning and place-making while drawing upon the unique qualities of the site and the architectural heritage of Aberdeen and North-east Scotland. Its homes, neighbourhoods and public spaces have been designed with people and quality of life in mind to promote a sense of wellbeing and community."
A detailed planning application for the scheme is expected this spring with construction getting underway by year’s end.
