FM Group rekindles £80m Ury Estate masterplan
February 27 2015
FM Group has rekindled its stalled plans to develop the Ury Estate, Aberdeenshire, by preparing to lodge an £80m golf course, hotel and homes masterplan.Backed by celebrity golfer Jack Nicklaus the Halliday Fraser Munro penned scheme would see the B-listed Ury House restored and converted to a hotel and clubhouse, with 230 new homes built in the estate grounds as an ‘enabling’ development.
In their design statement HFM observed: “The design concept for Ury Estate has evolved from the desire to provide a development which will support the renovation of Ury House and create a mixed use country estate providing residential, leisure and commercial opportunities.
“Consideration of access, connectivity, landscape features and topography has informed the design process to produce an overall plan which unifies the Estate and maximises its potential to accommodate development without adversely affecting its existing character.”
Housing will vary from low density family homes to higher density accommodation closer to Stonehaven and a commercial area next to the A90.

Wow ... Someone send HFM a copy of 'Making Places' .... More one-road driven urban planning .... What came first? The homes or the road?
