Edinburgh offices to homes scheme moves forward
December 8 2014
Westpoint Homes have submitted plans for a development of 60 flats, a quarter of which will be affordable, on the site of an existing office block at Annandale Street, Edinburgh.Completing an urban block with landscaped grounds to the rear the property will prioritise pedestrian over vehicle movements across shared amenity spaces.
Architects Covell Matthews wrote in their design statement: “It is our client’s intention to develop this residential development as a replacement building that is respectful of the urban fabric of its surroundings but also distinctive, high quality, contemporary and relevant in terms of the architectural language of today.
“The development will be visible from Leith Walk and the main entrance to the site is distinguished with a feature corner building which faces up Annandale Street towards Leith Walk itself.”
The finished block will be clad in masonry and timber effect panels.
