St Cecilia’s Hall remodelling hits the right note with planners
December 1 2014
Page\Park’s redevelopment of St Cecilia’s Hall on behalf of the University of Edinburgh is to get underway this spring following the award of planning and listed building consent.Extension and repair of the existing hall will transform it into a key cultural and ceremonial space for the university whilst providing a home for its extensive collection of musical instruments.
Once complete it will provide a 40 per cent increase in gallery space together with improved acoustics and a reconfigured entrance space modelled to resemble a harpsichord. Historic features such as an oval plan concert hall will also be remodeled.
Harley Haddow, David Narro Associates, Studio SP, New Acoustics, Thomson Bethune and CDM Scotland are all collaborating on the £6.3m build.
