Aberdeen mill to be transformed into media HQ
October 8 2014
Grandholm Mill, a grade B listed industrial building in Aberdeen, is to be transformed into the headquarters of AVC Media as part of a six-figure redevelopment. The visual effects and production business alighted on the historic premises, once the biggest woollen mill in Scotland, as part of efforts to give a new lease of life to the 222 year old structure noted for its production of the Crombie Coat - famously modelled by Peter Capaldi in his role as the new Dr Who.
AVC Media CEO Spencer Buchan commented: “Grandholm Mill is a unique building and is steeped in Aberdeen’s textile manufacturing history so for us to be in a position to breathe new life into the dwelling is such an exciting thing to do.
“The move will help make the office a fantastic place to work for our staff, and will also offer our clients a workplace in a welcoming setting which is conducive to idea creation and development.
“The mill is a blank canvas and we have worked with Tinto Architecture to develop a plan to complement the listed building and offer our experienced and talented team here at AVC Media open plan, loft-style working space surrounded within the beautiful setting of Grandholm along the banks of the river Don.”
AVC Media is set to move into its new home in February 2015.
