Burgh Hall earmarked for West Dunbartonshire Council HQ
West Dunbartonshire Council are to decant from their present headquarters at Garshake, in order to consolidate their presence within Dumbarton’s A-listed Burgh Hall.

A design team is expected to be appointed in October for the build which will see the façade of the ruined building retained with new build offices situated to the rear - part of a £19m estate investment drive.

Council leader Martin Rooney said: "In Dumbarton the transfer of 500 employees into the town centre will really help the High Street and neighbouring retailers, bring Council services closer to residents and renovate the historic Burgh Hall. In addition the project will save taxpayers more than £400,000 a year over 40 years.”

Dumbarton Municipal Buildings and existing office space on Bridge Street will also be given a makeover under the rationalisation plan, estimated to reduce the authority’s office footprint by as much as 53 per cent.

Elsewhere staff will be relocated from Rosebery Place, Clydebank, to vacant office space within Aurora House beside the West College Scotland campus.

The revamped Burgh Hall will open its doors in March 2017.
