Fire hits site of planned Glasgow Holiday Inn
June 4 2014
A fire described as ‘deliberate’ by emergency services has swept through the roof space of a B-listed former hotel at Glasgow Green, earmarked for a planned new Holiday Inn.The blaze ignited on Monday evening with fire crews battling through the night to bring it under control, saving the building but losing much of the roof in the process.
Built in 1840 the building currently languishes on the buildings at risk register and is currently subject to plans for a façade retention scheme and new build element.
The conflagration comes just days after a devastating fire swept through the Glasgow School of Art.

Is there any other major city that has this level of fires- & it ain't just a recent phenomenon ( it goes way back through the long history of the city)- what is it about Glasgow & its relationship with the flaming element?
