NHS Lothian release fresh batch of RHSC images
April 22 2014
NHS Lothian has published the latest batch of images detailing how the interior of the new Royal Hospital for Sick Children and Department of Clinical Neurosciences will look upon their completion in 2017.Designed by HLM Architects both schemes will rise around a shared central atrium providing its own shop, cinema and even a hotel whilst maintaining separate entrances for both facilities. Offering en-suite rooms and a rooftop helipad the scheme will offer direct links to existing adult and paediatric emergency departments.
Janice Mackenzie, clinical director for both projects, said: "Lots of hard work has gone into getting the project to this stage and we have taken account of patients, staff and visitors opinions on how they want the building to look and feel. Over the next few months we will be working closely with HLM architects to finalise the designs and we are confident that once the new building is completed it will provide a first class centre for healthcare.”
Integrated Healthcare Solutions Lothian, a consortium comprising Brookfield Multiplex and HLM, will design, build, finance and maintain the development which is expected to commence construction on the site of an existing car park at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh this autumn.
Preparatory works have already begun on site although a planning application has yet to be submitted
