Townhead Village Hall marks areas rejuvenation
April 14 2014
With the transformation of Glasgow’s Townhead district continues apace but one smaller scheme is already making a mark which belies its diminutive stature.Townhead Village Hall by Archial Norr comprises a single storey brick-clad structure providing a café, hall, learning centre and twin nurseries to cater for local residents.
Project architect Simon Fisher said: “At present construction is running on programme and the building is almost wind and water tight. External walls are complete and the contractor is beginning to fit out internal areas.
“Working on the Townhead Village Hall project has been a rewarding experience as it is a building which has been eagerly desired by the client group and will also bring benefit to the wider local community.”
Delivered for £1.65m by CCG the scheme sits at the heart of a growing education quarter which includes a new campus for City of Glasgow College.
A central cafe space is glazed on the north and south facades to engagwe with the street and private garden spaces
