Public consultation gets underway for Aberdeen student flats plan
April 8 2014
A public consultation has been launched today at the Powis gateway Community Centre, Aberdeen, for the construction of 270 student flats on the site of a disused retail store at Powis Place.Designed by Carson & Partners to serve the nearby University of Aberdeen the eight storey block occupies a prominent corner position offering a range of two to nine bedroom cluster flats.
Billed as a zero car development there will be limited on-site parking but secure cycle spaces will be provided.
David Campbell, managing director, said: “There is continuous demand for student accommodation in Aberdeen, given its increasing importance as an educational hub.
"Our new development at Powis Place will bring regeneration to a prominent site and a key element of our proposals is the promotion of a highly sustainable offer to students, promoting sustainable travel options and minimal car use from the site."
A planning application is expected in June with completion pencilled in for August 2017.
Powis Place is the latest in a series of developments now underway by the student housing provider; including St Andrews and Partick.

The disused and heavily vandalised office unit opposite requires immediate attention. Unless something is already in the pipeline?
