Highland Council progress Fort William Caol Campus
April 1 2014
The Highland Council has appointed Kier Construction to deliver a £14.6m joint campus and community building in Fort William Primary, the third new primary school to be built in the town as part of an overhaul of education provision.Caol Campus will see demolition of the existing Caol Primary and community centre to be replaced by two new buildings; a joint campus combining the existing Fort William and Lochyside Roman Catholic Primary Schools and a separate community centre housing a library, youth hub and café.
Both schools will share a central internal street and multi-use games area and the entire campus will be served by its own on-site energy centre.
Brian McQuade, managing director of Kier Construction’s Scottish business, said: “We are delighted to be working together with the Highland Council on the new Caol Campus. This is a significant investment into the Fort William economy and we look forward to working with the local community and providing additional employment opportunities, including apprenticeships, for suppliers and subcontractors based here.”
