Site clearance begins for Lochgilphead mental health hospital

NHS Highland has commenced demolition work at the site of a planned new mental health hospital in Lochgilphead, Argyll.Designed by macmon the scheme will see various outbuildings at the site of the existing hospital cleared to make way for a 22-bed inpatient unit, part of a wider framework for the authority being delivered by a consortium including Robertson and Dawn Construction.
John Dreghorn, programme director for mental health at NHS Highland, said: “They (contractors) will completely clear the site and what’s left should be level.
“We will fence off the area and the hospital will remain operational throughout the works.”
Construction work is scheduled to begin in June 2015 for completion by September 2016.
