HMP Grampian receives first inmates
March 3 2014
The first inmates to be sent to HMP Grampian are bedding down for the night after being decamped from surrounding prisons by the Scottish Prison Service.Designed by Holmes Miller and Skanska the £85m ‘titan’ jail in Peterhead will house a maximum of 500 prisoners from all categories and age groups, making it unique in the UK.
Conceived as a ‘community facing’ jail the facility incorporates a number of specialist units designed to curb re-offending such as a telephone marketing centre with segregation achieved via acarefully considered circulation routes.
HMP Grampian replaces the existing HMP Peterhead and HMP Aberdeen, both of which are being sold for redevelopment.

VERY nice - if you are homeless and unemployed this must look like heaven. 3 meals a day, single room with ensuite and TV - and it is free too!
