Aberdeen tower block refurbishment programme extended
February 27 2014
Aberdeen City Council has appointed housing specialists Lovell to deliver a £6.8m high-rise improvement programme in the Cairncry area of the city following a competitive tender. This will see four blocks, ranging in height from 16 to 17 storeys, receive rainscreen over-cladding, concrete repairs and replacement windows to improve their energy efficiency– similar to that recently installed at three multi-storey blocks in Balnagask.
Between them the properties provide some 388 homes and all residents will remain in-situ for the duration of the work.
Housing and environment convener councillor Neil Cooney said: "The over-cladding and window replacement work has been greatly received in other parts of the city and we look forward to working with Lovell as it delivers the next phase of this project.
"Residents in these buildings can be assured that this work will be carried out efficiently and to a high standard, ensuring these properties are energy-efficient and structurally sound for years to come."
Work on the year-long project is expected to commence this Spring.
