Richard Murphy design recommended for new Dumfermline Museum
July 18 2007
Richard Murphy Architects is to be recommended to Fife Council as the preferred practice to lead the design of a new Museum and Gallery for Dumfirmline.
The practice’s design concept was deemed the most convincing of the six entries to Fife Council’s recent architectural competition – an exhibition of designs held at Dumfermline’s Carnegie Library.
Over 1,300 visitors viewed work by the shortlisted practices- including Gareth Hoskins, Malcolm Fraser, Make, Reiach & Hall, Page\Park and Richard Murphy-leaving almost 400 comments and e-mails.
Councillor Tony Martin said: “I’m delighted with the numbers of people that have paid a visit. It’s obvious from the comments books that people have really given this a great deal of thought.”
The competition results and proposals for a funding package for the project will be submitted to the council after the summer recess.
