Graham Construction are set to commence work on a new Reiach & Hall designed health centre in Kilsyth on 6 January after the project received final approval from the Scottish Government.Scheduled for completion by summer 2015 the £7.8m centre will be located adjacent to an existing swimming pool on the town centre and will incorporate a range of medical services, a GP surgery and a dentist.
The new centre will be double the size of the existing building at Burngreen Park.
NHS Lanarkshire’s chief executive Ian Ross said: “We are delighted that we now have the official go ahead to begin work on the Kilsyth Community Health Centre. This is a major development for the area that will provide excellent facilities to allow us to deliver truly modern, top class health services to the people of Kilsyth.
“The design has been carefully planned to ensure we make the best use of the available space and have a flexible facility that can adapt to meet the changing needs of modern healthcare. A great deal of planning has taken place to reach this stage. We can now look forward to seeing progress on site and the building take shape.”
Kilsyth is one of three new health centres planned for the region; the others being located at Wishaw and East Kilbride.
