Contractor appointed for £200m schools programme

Miller Construction has been confirmed as preferred partner on a £200m programme to build new schools across the north of Scotland.Delivered through hub North Scotland individual projects include Wick Community Campus, Wick North Primary School and Inverness Royal Academy for The Highland Council; Alford Community Campus for Aberdeenshire Council plus Anderson High School and halls of residence for the Shetland Islands Council.
Angus Macfarlane, chief executive of hub North Scotland, said: “We are looking forward to overseeing this range of exciting and innovative projects that will be of great benefit to the education sector across the north of Scotland.
“hub North Scotland is currently working with Miller on a variety projects in the healthcare field and we very much value their expertise and professionalism so we’re delighted to be working in partnership with them on these new, modern learning environments that we are sure local people will feel the benefit of for years to come.
“These specific projects are another important step forward for hub as we look to the future with a £435million development pipeline for the next 10 years.”
Financial close is expected to be reached on all the contracts within the next 18 months.
