Reiach & Hall win Kilmartin House Museum competition
October 25 2013
Reiach & Hall Architects have seen off competition from Anderson Bell Christie, Lee Boyd, Malcolm Fraser and WT Architecture to secure a £3m commission to transform Kilmartin House Museum, Argyll. The project will provide additional space for the conservation and display of artefacts, including a new education space to teach local schoolchildren about the surrounding prehistoric landscape.
It will also allow the museum to safely and securely accommodate exhibits from national museums and galleries within a custom built temporary exhibition space.
These will be housed within a new build pavilion, replacing a number of existing buildings which are no longer fit for purpose, with improved circulation and a new café and gift shop.

I was there just last year. The only thing which struck everyone in our group as not fit for purpose was the appalling video presentation and the seating in the room it was presented in.
