St Cadoc’s Primary, Rutherglen, has welcomed its first pupils since handover by Kier Construction

The £6.2m school was delivered under South Lanarkshire’s £812m primary school modernisation programme and incorporates seven classrooms, a library, dining room and gym arranged over two storeys.

Designed by the Paul Stallan Studio at RMJM team before passing to Stallan-Brand the scheme was built within the grounds of the existing school and sits adjacent to Cairns Primary – delivered by the same team.

Head teacher Ann Marie McConnell said: “Our new school is wonderful, we have beautiful new classrooms, open areas, fabulous IT equipment and loads of space to play in. Everyone loves the new smart boards and having wifi everywhere makes learning more fun.”

Councillor Jean McKeown, chair of South Lanarkshire Council’s education resources committee, said: “The pupils have already taken ownership of their new surroundings and are quite rightly very proud of their new school."
