September 30 2013
Housing association the Link Group, in partnership with contractors J. Smart & Co, have submitted plans for seven new apartment buildings and associated car parking on land off Ferry Road, Edinburgh.Designed by CDA City Park occupies two hectares of land at a former football ground to the north of the city centre and will provide a total of 201 homes, three quarters of which will be affordable.
These will take the form of a series of perimeter blocks fronting new internal streets and public spaces, each of which will be clad in mixed buff-coloured brickwork with light coloured cladding used to denote entrance points.
Extensive planting will be used to the southern and western boundaries to screen the estate from neighbouring residential developments.
A central parkland area will serve as the public heart of the scheme with the adoption of Home Zone principles under consideration to support a pedestrian friendly environment.
It is intended to harmonise the development with neighbouring homes whilst maintaining a contemporary appearance
