Forth Bridge visitor centre concept draw up
September 16 2013
WT Architecture on behalf of Network Rail has drawn up early concept designs for a new Forth Bridge visitor centre. The feasibility study has been drawn up in collaboration with tourism and business experts to improve public access and understanding of the engineering landmark.
Two options have been drawn up for the scheme, the first entailing construction of a reception centre at South Queensferry leading to an exposed bridge walk to the top of the south tower.
An alternative solution is for a more substantial visitor centre at the base of the Fife Tower in North Queensferry, giving access via a hoist to a viewing deck at the bridge’s summit.

Fantastic project! Great idea for scotland and refreshing to see this is being done by great design practice and not one of the usual suspects. I hope this comes to fruition and begs the question why we didnt do this earlier. Nice visuals WT

I would thoroughly enjoy both proposals and would visit regularly. I have always loved the Forth Bridge and the experience of going to the top would be fantastic.

Fantastic idea I have always wanted to walk the bridge. Abseiled from it last Sunday but it was boring. Best part was walking along the gantry I would have liked to have just kept walking! Great idea especially having a visitor centre that can be used for different occasions? You just know someone will want to get married on the viewing platform!! I hope it it happens. Both ideas are great . I hope this goes ahead it would be a major visitor attraction .
