Revised Inverness West Link plans published
August 6 2013
Revised plans to construct a new link road in Inverness have been published by Highland Council; which incorporate a new sports hub and swing bridge. The Inverness West Link Road is intended to ease cross city travel but has faced local opposition on the grounds that it will result in a loss of green space.
It will trace a sweeping alignment along the banks of the River Ness, before following the embankment of the Caledonian Canal.
Highland Council leader Drew Hendry said: "The boundaries to the sports hub proposals have been changed to accommodate the responses to our consultation and this is why we need to go back out for a further period of consultation on this element.”
Detailed planning will be submitted by the end of the month with construction expected to commence in 2015.
