June 6 2013
A £36m secondary school in the Aberdeenshire town of Ellon is to move on-site later this month following the appointment of FMP Joint Venture Ltd as main contractor. The 1,200 place school will incorporate a five lane pool and other community facilities and has been designed in-house by Aberdeenshire Council.
It will be the centrepiece of a new schools campus at Cromleybank and incorporates a new footbridge across the River Ythan to improve connections with the existing town centre.
FMP Director, Raymond Millar, said: “It is an outstanding project in a challenging environment. We recognise that this building project is more than just a school, and we are committed to engaging with the wider community as part of the delivery of this first-class facility.”
Work to complete the new school is expected to finish in autumn 2015.
