Ground-breaking event marks latest phase of Craigmillar’s regeneration

Hart Builders have moved on-site of the third phase of a Craigmillar masterplan, ushering in an additional 60 affordable homes for the area on behalf of Edinburgh City Council’s 21st Century Homes programme.Comprising a mix of houses and flats the scheme follows an extensive programme of demolition in the area and constitutes the first new build local authority homes in the area for a generation.
Councillor Cammy Day said: “It is vital that we tackle Edinburgh’s shortage of affordable homes and projects like this are an important step in this direction.
“We are committed to working with our partner organisations to deliver more developments like Greendykes, which not only provide much-needed homes but also create jobs and boost the local economy.”
Greendykes C, designed by Smith Scott Mullan, is valued at £6m and follows on from earlier work by Hypostyle.
Two separate developments at Niddrie House Park and Collier Place are also currently under construction and are scheduled to complete in September.
