Fundraising drive launched for Glasgow Women’s Library
April 11 2013
Glasgow Women’s Library has launched a fundraising drive for the remodelling of Bridgeton’s Carnegie Library to serve as their new home following a relocation of the public lending library to the newly rebuilt Olympia. The resource moved into their new premises this spring but the building requires essential renovations in order to be fully fit for purpose.
To that end Collective Architecture have been employed to redesign the grade B listed 1906 library to serve as a custom built home for the archive from 2018.
The scheme has received the backing of Clyde Gateway and Glasgow Life but requires a significant funding shortfall to be addressed before works can commence.
An application for planning and listed building consent is currently being processed.

What a great example of reusing an old building. It works really well. If I were to change one thing I would change the 'Latin' with Scots poetry or even quotes from local Glaswegian comics.
