Development plan submitted for Dundee's Parkview School
April 9 2013
Whiteburn Projects have submitted plans to develop Dundee’s Parkview School, converting the Scots Jacobean main building for residential use and constructing a new build block in the grounds.Designed by Page\Park the scheme is described as a ‘pocket of urbanity’ within the west end and will be arranged around a series of communal courtyards to tie together the disparate elements of the scheme.
Set within mature, landscaped grounds the new build element will sit under a zinc roof with stone cladding used to relate to the existing school. Slatted timber will also be used for both cladding and balustrading to relate to surrounding woodland.
In their design statement Page\Park state: “In plan the richness of the school block, with its sequence of projecting bays and gables is also echoed in the new build, whose gables step back to reveal the key approach view of the school and create space for existing trees, breaking down the bulk into discrete elements.”
