March 21 2013
Construction work has commenced on the site of St. Mary's West End Medical Practice, Edinburgh.Designed by Page/Park the £2.6million facility sits within the grounds of the Category A listed St. Mary's Cathedral and precinct, incorporating the existing Walpole Hall and a new masons workshop and yard, alongside a new build pavilion with GP and treatment rooms.
The BREEAM rated proposal incorporates a green roof and ground source heat pump technology to supplement heating and hot water systems. The design is based on an holistic approach to health care with a reduction in corridor space and an organic shaped waiting room area that responds to the garden and existing trees.
Completion is scheduled for spring 2014.
