Miller Construction commence Gateshead hospital work
February 25 2013
Miller Construction has begun work on a new £30m emergency care centre at Gateshead’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The 9,500sq/m centre will act as a new entrance for the hospital and is intended to provide a single integrated service for the people of Gateshead upon its completion and will include a specific unit for the treatment of children.
Other facilities on offer include an accident and emergency unit, short stay unit and specialist diagnostic equipment.
A tricky build program necessitates maintaining access and minimising disruption to existing staff and patients throughout the build process.
The new hospital has been designed by Miller HPS and is expected to be completed by July 2014.
