Tennis champ Andy Murray is set to become a hotelier following his decision to purchase Cromlix House Hotel, Kinbuck, for £1.8m.The four-star Perthshire retreat is familiar to Murray as the setting of his brother’s wedding and was a popular haunt of locals in his hometown - until it abruptly closed its doors following a dispute over the late payment of rent a year ago.
Now Murray will refurbish and upgrade the 15 bedroom property to create a five-star venue 2014 Ryder Cup in partnership with Inverlochy Castle Management International.
Murray commented: "I am pleased to have acquired Cromlix House and look forward to securing its future as a successful business.
"By re-establishing Cromlix as a leading luxury hotel at the heart of the Dunblane community, we will be able to attract new visitors to the area, create a number of new jobs and focus on supporting other local businesses.
"I'm pleased to be able to give something back to the community I grew up in."
