Ardrossan Medical Centre secures funding
February 7 2013
Work to build a new medical centre in the Ayrshire town of Ardrossan could finally get the go ahead after the project was awarded £2.5m from the Scottish Government’s ‘shovel ready’ fund.Designed by Reiach & Hall, way back in 2008, the 100,000sq/ft scheme will be located on a brownfield site close to the towns ferry terminal and incorporates a vacant C-listed former police station.
Patrick Wiggins, chief executive, Irvine Bay Regeneration Company, said: "A new medical centre in Ardrossan has been a long-held aspiration for both the local community and Irvine Bay, and now it is to become a reality.”
A further £2.7m has been made available for the development of a new industrial and office park in the vicinity.
