Moray Council give go-ahead to Forres masterplan
December 20 2012
Moray Council have awarded planning permission to a 380 home masterplan for the south of Forres, clearing the way for Springfield Properties to move on site in January.Acting as client, architect and engineer, Springfield are to proceed with the £15m first phase one of this plan, erecting 129 homes alongside a dental surgery and retail unit designed by Mackie Ramsay Taylor Architects.
Set within landscaped woodland Ferrylea will offer a mixture of 67 affordable and 62 private homes arranged around a central recreational ground.
Some local residents had voiced opposition to the plans, including Isobel Fiddes who wrote: “I feel very disappointed that Forres may be expanding further into the countryside. I can’t help wondering who will buy 380 houses on top of all those built in Knockomie.”
Pamela Machin meanwhile objected that: “Whilst I am pleased that a new dental practice is included in phase 1 of the plans and some affordable housing, which there is a need for in Forres, I have concerns about the high density of housing in comparison to the area of land.”

Interesting that the top image seems to suggest that the actual architecture is the least important part of the scheme.
