Mountgrange & PRUPIM to press ahead with Glasgow Odeon redevelopment
November 27 2012
Mountgrange and PRUPIM, the real estate investment funds, have announced that they are to press ahead with the imminent demolition of Glasgow’s former Odeon cinema after securing ownership of the property from Duddingston House.Sir Robert McAlpine has been appointed to design and build 143,000sq/ft of retail and office space behind the art deco cinema, an amended 10 storey design penned by GMA|Ryder.
This will entail demolition of the existing brick bow to make way for the 10 storey grade a office scheme behind the retained frontage building.
Nick Berry, partner at Mountgrange Investment Management, commented: "We have identified Glasgow as a prime target for commercial investment and believe this provides an excellent opportunity to respond to the shortage of Grade A space in the heart of the city.”
Demolition will commence next month and the new block is expected to be available to tenants in December 2014.

I do not think this scheme was designed by GMA|Ryder - this was designed by a team in GMA before they went in to liquidation, as pointed out in the very article you link to above.
And Wonky - oozing timelessness and class? The 2 examples you cite are both empty and derelict because they are of a configuration and size that is not suitable for a modern use. This would make them anything but timeless no?

Images of the proposal are available here: http://www.architectsjournal.co.uk/news/daily-news/gordon-murray-submits-plans-to-redevelop-glasgow-cinema/8618173.article Someone should also donate their texture library to GMA | Ryder, seems like all they have is white....

The plans linked to above are for an earlier scheme. GMA|Ryder have since reworked it and will release the revised plans in a 'few days'.

#5 Looks like the previous owners were eager to get rid of it and the new company are holding the site with temorary proposals until the market improves, if it ever does. It will be a very long time before anything happens here.
