Donald Trump tees off design work on second Menie course
November 19 2012
Vituperative tycoon Donald Trump is pressing ahead with controversial plans to build a second golf course at his Menie estate, which already has outline planning permission from Aberdeenshire Council. The brash billionaire has recruited golf course architect Dr Martin Hawtree to realise his vision for a ‘less dramatic’ new links, the latest phase of his plans to build a £750m golfing mecca on the Aberdeenshire coast.
It comes just six months following completion of his first championship course over the summer and follows a string of pronouncements by Trump proclaiming a moratorium on further development until an array of offshore wind turbines, visible from the site, were scrapped.
That development is still pressing ahead but demand from golfers for an additional 18 hole run is said to have prompted the change of heart.

Glad to see somebody make progress in the region of boom and doom!
Aberdeen is in the dark ages when it comes to progress, mainly due to outside influences, yet light years ahead when it comes to business prospectivity.
I've had a change of heart when it comes to old Mike Forbes, but I'm still 100% behind the development, but would would like to see some neighbourly cooperation on boths sides, and no outside influence (ie embarassing English cameraman trying to be the 'local' hero).
Cheers
