Laurieston masterplan secures planning approval

Glasgow City Council has given the green light to the latest stage of a £90m redevelopment of Laurieston, a bid to build 600 homes for sale.Tabled by Urban Union, a joint venture partnership between McTaggart Construction, Keepmoat and Robertson Group Holdings. the housing forms part of a wider masterplan which includes the potential for a hotel, retail, community facilities and green spaces - which was also given the all clear.
Delivered in partnership with New Gorbals Housing Association the scheme has been drawn up with assistance from planning consultants Barton Willmore and RMJM architects, who today entered administration.
Janice Belshaw, project manager, Urban Union, said: “This area of Glasgow has waited a long time for this transformation, and it is great to see how quickly things are now moving. This is a long term project but we are already on schedule with the first phase of affordable housing, and now we can move forward with the rest of our plans."
Work to deliver the first phase of the regeneration project, 201 homes for affordable rent designed by Page\Park and Elder& Cannon, is already underway.
