Albyn School redevelopment officially unveiled
September 7 2012
Albyn School, a 145 year old independent school in Aberdeen, has celebrated the completion of a two year, £3.5m redevelopment project.Designed by Archial with Robertson undertaking construction work, the project includes a new toddler nursery, classroom block, science and technology laboratories and remodelling work to existing Victorian buildings.
Dr. Ian Long, head master of Albyn School, commented: “The challenge was to add new facilities to the school and marry together contemporary design to the traditional architecture of the existing school. All this had to be achieved with as little impact as possible on the life and activities of the pupils. In achieving these ends we have we have helped to secure Albyn’s future for another generation of pupils.”
Keith Taylor, regional managing director of Robertson commented: “We were on site at Albyn School for 12 months to complete the redevelopment project and it’s satisfying for us all to see the end result. The new facilities and improved buildings represent a sound investment by the school and I know pupils will appreciate the difference it makes to school life.”
