Toryglen energy centre submitted for planning
Viridor Waste Management Ltd has submitted a planning application for the construction of a new recycling and renewable energy centre at Toryglen, south Glasgow.

Treating approximately 200,000 tonnes of waste per annum it will entail demolition of an existing waste transfer station and materials recycling facility, including two landmark 67m chimney stacks, to accommodate the upgraded facility.

These will be replaced by a 70m and 27m tall stack, main building and storage tanks with landscaping works to be undertaken to minimise their visual impact.

Designed by ADF Architects the scheme is intended to present a strong frontage to Polmadie Road, taking advantage of the recently completed M&4 extension to accommodate large, bulk vehicles.

Even more recently completed Materials Recycling Facility paid for by council tax payers didn't last long then...
Quite unimaginative design

This is the new 'gasification' incinerator that will generate poisonous dioxins. No worries - only poor people in this area - they won't be able to put together much of an opposition campaign.
