Miller Construction wins student housing work

Miller Construction has won student housing contracts in York and Birmingham to meet continued demand in the fast growing sector.The York development is valued at £12m and will entail delivery of a 258 bed block on behalf of S.Harrison Developments for York St John University.
Work on the scheme, which occupies a derelict site adjacent to the city’s Hungate development, has already begun with completion expected by June 2013.
Birmingham meanwhile will comprise a 120 bed extension to the University of Birmingham’s Jarratt Hall. It is due for completion by September 2013.
Chris Webster, chief executive, Miller Construction, said: “These contracts are in line with our strategy to focus our efforts on our core markets.
“We are continuing to focus on programmes of work with repeat clients, in addition to increasing our client base. We have delivered a number of successful student accommodation projects over the last three years, further reinforcing our skills and expertise in this market.”
