Tenants move into Dunfermline’s Housing Innovation Showcase
July 3 2012
The first tenants have moved into Dunfermline’s Housing Innovation Showcase, a £3.3m energy efficient estate built by Kingdom Housing Association in partnership with Fife Council.Designed by Oliver and Robb architects the scheme encompasses 27 homes for social rent developed using 10 different construction methods. A diversity intended to showcase how alternative construction systems and new technologies can be incorporated into mainstream housing projects.
The total energy requirement of each thermally efficient home has been put at £300 per year.
The Scottish Government’s housing minister, Keith Brown, said: “These houses test and demonstrate different innovative construction methods and allow the construction industry to showcase new and innovative projects.”
“The Scottish Government is committed to the long term sustainability of our housing stock- this is the reason why we were happy to input £2 million into this development.”

Is it just me or does this look really depressingly bleak? Almost like a poor attempt at overcladding old council stock?
