Lend Lease, the construction firm behind The hydro arena at Glasgow’s SECC, have opened the doors to the huge construction site as part of a charity drive.

£80k has been raised by the building firm’s staff which was distributed equally between CHAS and Ayrshire Hospice at a special on-site ceremony.

The charity work was completed by Lend Lease’s charitable and social arm, the Guvnor’s Club.

Gordon Anderson, Executive General Manager in Scotland for Lend Lease, said: “We are immensely proud of our rich history in Scotland of raising funds for good causes via the Guvnors’ Club. Today’s presentation marks the latest chapter in that story.”

The Hydro, designed by Foster, is scheduled to complete in 2013.
