March 9 2012
Construction work is now well underway at the Housing Innovation Showcase in Dunfermline, Fife.Phase one will entail construction of 27 homes for social rent, each of which will also serve as a demonstrator for 10 construction methods from different contractor partners; including renewable technologies and energy efficient design.
This forms part of a larger site masterplan developed by Oliver and Robb, Hardies and SBA.
Work on site is scheduled to complete in May whereupon a three week showcase will be held to demonstrate different construction systems; including closed panel systems, prefabricated and modular construction and structural insulated panel systems.
Douglas Gray, Chair of Kingdom Housing Association said: “This is a very exciting project for everyone involved and will demonstrate how the alternative methods of construction can provide improved quality and how it is possible to roll out new technologies to other housing projects.”
