Loch Lomond gold mine approved
February 14 2012
Plans to construct a gold mine at Loch Lomond have been granted planning approval by the National Park authority. It follows a £2m conservation agreement signed between the authorities and Scotgold resources, the developer behind the venture, which will allow park officials to restore the landscape should the mine close down prematurely or breach its planning conditions.
This includes money for landscaping, waste management and contributions toward a 30-year native woodland project.
Work on the mine is expected to commence this summer.
