Bellsmyre Community Hall approved
January 25 2012
Collective Architecture has received the go ahead from planners to construct a new community facility in Bellsmyre, West Dunbartonshire.Masterminded by the Bellsmyre Development Trust the centre provides a flexible multi-purpose hall for use by community groups in addition to office accommodation for the Trust.
This brief has been resolved by Collective into two distinct zinc clad volumes, housing both the halls and office space, tied together by a single storey timber band which doubles as an entrance foyer.
A public frontage along the south elevation comprises a mixture of parking, seating, bike stands and soft landscaping. To the rear a private garden serves as a spill out area to the main hall and play spaces, offering opportunity for complimentary spaces such as a community garden.
Construction is dependent on funding from the BIG lottery fund which, if successful, will see a move on site by September 2012.
