Springburn multis in line for a New Year spruce up
Wates Living has submitted a £2m refurbishment plan, on behalf of Glasgow Housing Association, for two remaining concrete slab blocks at Springburn, Glasgow.

Drawn up by architects 3DReid the plans would entail a series of alterations being made to 3 & 5 and 31 & 35 Pinkston Drive, including over cladding to improve insulation and a new render finish.

Ground floors will also be given a makeover with new canopies and signage installed to improve the pedestrian experience.

Wates have collaborated with 3DReid on a series of similar makeovers for Glasgow’s multis, including three at nearby Dundasvale.
An enthusiastic embrace of demolition means just two of an original 10 identical slabs will have any long term future

The oppressive grey of the existing estate will be lightened via an application of white render

I think a £2m demolition plan would be more appropriate! An eyesore and embarrassment to our city!

These blocks are beyond any form of visual improvement. They will be up for demolition within 10 years.
