Work commences on Wester Hailes Healthy Living Centre
November 14 2011
A turf cutting event has taken place today on site of the new Wester Hailes Healthy living Centre, a joint development between NHS Lothian and the City of Edinburgh Council.Designed by JM Architects the scheme will incorporate a range of health services under one roof; including a dental practice, social work care and volunteer staff from the Wester Hailes Health Agency.
The building will incorporate a central internal boulevard from which both accommodation and a series of enclosed courtyard gardens can be accessed.
Councillor Paul Edie, Health and Social Care Convener for the City of Edinburgh Council, said: “Today marks an important step for people living in Wester Hailes as the new centre will create a one stop shop of health and social care services.
“Having all these facilities in one location can only be of benefit to everyone in the community and the new site will transform a derelict part of the neighbourhood.”
Completion of the facility is penciled in for 2013.

mmmmm. JM (Just Mediocre) architects. These guys need to come up with something new instead of just dusting down the schemes from any one of their PFI schools etc. Utterly dull and about time clients and that includes the Hub opened their eyes to the many other talented firms in East Scotland.

Architectural snobbery still alive and well I see - and all judged from a couple of images.
If it had SHA or GHA name against it, I'm sure icam would be p*ssing in his pants in excitement.

Tisk Tisk icam .... what are you working on? Looks ok to me - JM are a pretty safe pair of hands when it comes to delivering decent architecture ... probably unlike your mob !

SAndals and D to the R. Very aggressive replies - sounds like you are JM employees perchance...lol. Not JM's best piece of work - think they are getting a wee bit tired.
