Nord secure Glasgow Hospice commission
July 26 2011
Nord architects have been commissioned by the Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice to design a new centre for the palliative care of young adults.Looking to ‘the home’ for inspiration Nord secured the commission with a residential approach that provides both private and dignified spaces alongside areas for shared experiences.
Alan Pert, director of NORD, said: “Undoubtedly this is a demanding brief that requires a need for practical problem solving with inspirational design ideas to fully compliment the Hospice’s Philosophy of Care. We believe that just as the care focuses on the patient and not the disease, the building should do the same”.
Rhona Baillie, Chief Executive of the Hospice added: “We are delighted that NORD will be working with us on the build of our new Hospice. Throughout the tender process we have been extremely impressed with Alan Pert and his team for their creative approach and ability to form great relationships.”
A site for the Hospice, currently housed in four Georgian terrace buildings along the Clyde, has yet to be finalised but the scheme is scheduled to complete in 2016.
