July 20 2011
Standard Life, in conjunction with Joint Properties, have commenced construction on a new Travelodge hotel on Edinburgh’s Queen Street. The £2m fit out will see the derelict townhouse, last used as office space, transformed into an 85 bed hotel by Spring 2012.
Rob Davis of Ryden, who are acting as project managers on the strip out, said: “There have been several office properties converted to hotels within Edinburgh recently because offices tend to lend themselves well to being transformed relatively easily due to their open floorplates."
Travelodge are progressing plans for two new hotels in the city as part of an ambitious expansion drive following its acquisition by Dubai Sovereign Capital.
